Culture Halls

IATS holds four halls for experimental fish and shellfish culture spanning over 2000 m². They contain over 300 water tanks of different volumes. Complementary facilities include two wet labs and 4 necropsy rooms adjacent to the culture area.

 Hall A:

  • Reproduction and environmental manipulation unit.
  • Area: 1000 m²
  • Open and partially closed sea and brackish water circuits with temperature and light regulation modules.
  • Culture tanks of 3000, 500 and 90 litres.

 Hall B:

  • Pathology Unit, with quarantine and experimental infection tanks
  • Area: 200 m²
  • Open and partially closed sea and brackish water circuits, with temperature and light regulation modules, and sterilization-disinfection of influents and efluents
  • Culture tanks of  1000, 500, 200 and 90 litres

 Hall C:

  • Growth Unit
  • Area: 400 m²
  • Open and partially closed sea and brackish water circuits, with temperature and light regulation modules.
  • Culture tanks of 3000, 500 and 90 litres

 Hall D:

  • Auxiliary Cultures Unit:
  • Area: 500 m²
  • Open and partially closed sea and brackish water circuits, with temperature and light regulation modules.
  • Culture chambers with temperature regulation for shellfish, microalgae and zooplankton culture.
  • Culture tanks of 3000, 500, 90 and 25 litres.
